My baby BW tegu has started showing some signs of activity for the end of hibernation (bowel movements, rearranging some substrate). I guess this means an end to hibernation. Anyway, I was wondering a couple of things. I hear they usually refuse food for about a month after emerging. Is this true? Should I still leave some food? Since I am not there when he is roaming around (I have only seen him once), should I leave food there overnight? I have been leaving mealworms and chopped ham and turkey, but they all seem to dry up after 10 hours or so and pinkies tend to begin smelling terrible after the same period of time. How does everyone go about easing their tegu out of hibernation? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I am very excited for him to come out and play, and I just want to make sure his official welcome is done right!
