HELP!! New adoptee and he's BIG

blondieboy Jun 04, 2003 10:57 AM

I have dealt with iguanas before but never one that was 4-5 years and feet. He's a bit aggressive and hasnt really eaten much since I got him (save for fruit). One reason I think he hasnt been eating is because he gets distracted by people walking by. Is it a bad idea to put a shade/sheet around his cage for this purpose? It would also help make his cage darker at night. Granted this is a temporary solution, as is his ferret cage. I know he needs a much larger enclosure, and he'll get one when I move shortly, but I wanted to take him off the adoption cos. hands b/c they are so overloaded. He was really well cared for by his previous owner, but I have no idea of his habits, personality, or training. Any ideas??

i dont know if it applies, but i also have an iguana that doesnt like to be watched as he eats. he will even stop eating in mid chew if he sees me. so now i feed him before i leave the house in the morning, or if i am home, i stay out of the room for a while. it seems to work, because everyday that bowl is empty and lying on the floor.(that's guano's little thing, he shoves the bowl off his basking spot when it is empty, how cute .) hope that gives you at least a couple of ideas.
