Bamboo is great stuff! it looks neat, and frogs seam to like climbing on it. it really dosent matter if its dead or alive, i used dried bamboo (from my own plant, decorative stuff might have preservitaves ect..) for my other plants to climb up. but i have also tryed "lucky" bamboo we got while we visited our chinatown with my class. once it has grown substancial roots it seams to do ok in a fairly wet soil. there are tonnes of varietys of bamboo so check around!
