GIANT WALKING GECKO HELP!!

vferra7777 Dec 31, 2003 12:27 PM

HEllo everyone. We just imported these mosnters? Color and design like fat tails but get over 12". We have several and are having difficulty feeding/caring for them. Does anyone have any clue as to theirpreferred environment and food? They have very large eyes (nocturnal: no UV?), small to no teeth (fruit ala cresteds?) and claws no suction cup type appendages (climbers?). I have tried wax worms and crickets with no luck. If you have ideas, please e-mail at vferra7777@cs.com or call 804.763.4443 and thank you. I will post pics tomorrow.

Hi,

If you are talking about Cyrtodactylus louisiadensis, I keep a pair of them. I got mine back in October and didn't have any trouble at all getting them to feed on large crickets. I have them on jungle bark substrate, mist 2-3 times per day. Lots of logs and corkbark as decoration, and terracotta pots to hide in. Give them lots of cover to make them feel secure, don't feed for 2-3 days, and then throw in a few large crickets, and I think they'll gobble them. Good luck!
