The reason I ask is because Houdini, my male Saharan, has gotten millet seed lodged in his mouth several times and now has a deformed mouth. I hope it's not permanent and will heal over time. I have temporarilly removed all of the millet from his sleeping area, that's where he seems to get the seeds jammed in his lips. I need to remove all of the millet so he can completely heal. I don't want to use anything that can get lodged in this "hole" in his mouth. Sorry I don't have a good photo to show you, but he really does have a large chunk of skin missing on the bottom tip of his mouth. You can see right through to his teeth when his mouth is completely shut. I just hope I haven't deformed him for life. He seems to be able to chew his food ok. Any ideas on what kind of substrate to use while he heals? Shelf liner? Butcher paper?
