Getting to eat freeze-dried crix...

clickman Dec 31, 2003 03:13 PM

This was a great time to run out of silkies, at the end of the year in the holidays! I've placed my order, but it won't get here till a while, January 2nd. I had my last silkies on Saturday. I placed my order, but the holidays have screwed up shipping schedules. I went to my local pet store, and they're all out of crickets till tomorrow. I was able to get the last remnants of my mealworm colony, about eight worms... For two leos, at about 10 months, that's not a whole lot. (I also bought a thing of 50 waxworms, but they all turned out to be dead, too... Yes, I know they're not a staple due to fat content, but something to get them through a few days) I only really have freeze dried crix. Any ideas on how to make them more appealing?

Hello

First off sounds to me like the petstore stinks haha 8 mealworms and a tub of dead waxies I have never fed freeze dried crickets to my leos but the petstore were I work ran out of feeders once so I took a clear piece of fishing line and tied it to the back of the cricket loosley and moved the line back and forth after a minute the gecko stricked and ate it from there i just pulled on the fishing line and the loose loop i put on the back of the cricket came undone and the gecko ate the cricket in the mist of all this the fedex man arrives with the crickets man i was pist hahaha.

Actually, speaking of the pet store, let me give credit where credits due. Petsmart in Danvers, MA --- they take decent care of their animals. Right sized crickets, pretty much all around good husbandry (Well, I saw them use calcisand in a cage for mali's once... But besides that time they've always used repticarpet in desert terrariums). If you're in MA, I'd highly reccomend them if you can only choose between corporate stores.
