Is he a MUTANT?

Anson Dec 31, 2003 03:16 PM

I have a HUGE male gecko and I was just wondering if he was normal? He is so much bigger than all my other geckos including other males. I Have cooled him for the winter and even eating less he is at 110 grams. He also looks HUGE next to my other males. Is he normal and my other males are just puny? He is about 10 - 11 inches long. He is healthy and eats like a pig but I was just wondering if he is the right size for a leopard gecko and maybe my other males are abnormally small.
I will try to get a photo of him if you need to look at him to see how big he is.
He is a carrot tail x Tang cross

Hey

I have heard of just fat or large geckos being that weight but not that long rob jenkins has a 100 gram tang from albey how evey at your geckos length he could have giant genes in him check out www.leopardgecko.com then go to the giant section or he could just be a normal lil porker

I got him from Masterpiece Geckos and they said he did not have giant genes in him and that the giants were usually albinos not Carrot tails. He is a rather normal looking weight but as I have not heated him for spring yet he is thinner than he gets just before breeding time. He will usually plump up to 125 or more. I did not know he was abnormally big till I got some more males and now I notice the difference. I know he was huge next to my females but I thought this was normal. He is very gentle with them though and never bites them. He had an abnormally big daughter last year but I thought nothing of it and sold her.
If he throws another huge baby I will hold her back for breeding.
I did keep one of his daughters that is a carrot tail rainbow stripe. His genes must carry a bit of everything. Most of his offspring were carrot tails.
