Cage w/o Heating?

Icarus Dec 31, 2003 04:10 PM

Is this possible?

The cage is near finished and I'll be putting in the "fake walls" made of insulation in the next couple days. However, I was thinking that if I were to insulate the bottom as well - perhaps the daytime heat (at an average of 91) would keep the tank warm enough (no lower than 70) for the night. The tank is 34x14x14 (strange dimensions... maybe) and will be covered at the top (though ventilated).

Peter - Since when did they change the meaning of "for" to "from?"
Brian - They had a meeting about it last night.
Peter - Why wasn't I informed?
Brian - They sent you a card, but it said "For Peter" so you must have thought it was from yourself so... It's just easier to call you stupid.

I forgot what species this is for. Many species of snakes thrive with constant temperatures provided they are not too hot (more on that later). Many lizards, on the other hand, don't do as well at constant daytime temps.

I'm sure you'll be able to add a radiant heat panel if you end up needing it.

On another note, you wrote and "average" of 91*. 91* is much too hot of a constant temperature for many species of reptiles. Since you said average, you're implying, obviously, that there are times when it is hotter than this.

This does not sounds like a safe environment for many species of reptile.
