Pittsburgh Herpetological Society closed?

Hey I was just wondering when did the Pittsburgh, PA herp society closed? I was on their web site a few months back and they were still up and running. I am also confused why they closed, was it because of that story a year or so ago about the boa killing the little girl? If I could get a reply, I would greatly appreciate it.
