darn airborne...

Just a recommendation for anyone who ships geckos...I don't recommend shipping airborne express for new years eve delivery. I was supposed to have a pair of geckos here today by noon...it's now almost 6:30 and no sign of them! The guys sending them to me has called 3 times...the first time they said they were backed up but in the area...the second time they said they were really backed up, but in the area and they should be here within the hour...the third time they said they should be here by friday! He told them they were live fish and would be dead by friday...so apparently they called the people delivering them and they are going to try to page the driver to get them delivered tonight...what a mess! I'm SO angry!!!!

Where did you order from? I ordered from Xtreme Reptiles, and I got my High Yellow by noon today! Excellent people at Xtreme Reptiles!

No problems!

I was supposed to recieve my blizzard today. At first i just thought there was a postal problem. I had ordered about 2 weeks ago and expected to ship yesterday. So i checked my credit card and had not been charged for the gecko yet. So i guess Pete from Petesgeckos.com just forgot about me Very disappointing but i'll just have to conjure up a little bit more patience.

inquired about an order in the 22nd...never heard from him again. He may be out of town but he should tell this to clients who are trying to make a sale. Maybe something happened? I'm now looking into placing an order with someone else.

I heard nothing but good things about pete until now. I'm giving him 2 days to e-mail me back and then i'm just gonna buy a normal from golden gate geckos.

And I don't want to sound like an @ss, I'm glad you got your geckos and that they were OK. BUT, it is extremely irresponsible on both the seller and the buyer to ship geckos in violation of company policy. It's because of things like this that we are limited in choices when shipping reptiles. And, everytime someone thumbs their nose at a companies policy, it sets back any efforts to get these policies changed.
Just my .02 cents......

I dont know if that post was directed to me but it is not against the company that i ordered from's policy to ship on the date that we had set. I didnt notice any of the other posts on this thread say anything about company policy so i dont know where your comeing from.

Airborne does not allow the shipment of reptiles, so the geckos were shipped (as are many reptiles, everyday) against Airborne's company policy. But, just because others are breaking the rules doesn't make it right. Just gives herpers a bad name.

UPS will ship lizards, so it would have been a better choice, if you are one to follow rules.

I personally don't think it's responsible to ship for delivery before a national holiday or weekend; it could have led to the geckos spending a very cold night in a warehouse or truck in New Jersey (will be low 30-32F between now and Friday). That's why you'll see on many breeder's websites that they ship Mon-Wed, so geckos probably won't be left over the weekend if there's a delay.

You'll also find that there are a lot of people in this only for the money; which is their choice, it's a business, but you as a customer have a choice also.

Here's the page that outlines what they ship and don't ship.

Once again, snakes and lizards are shipped via UPS, USPS, Airborne and FedEx all the time in the US. Only UPS and USPS to my knowledge knowingly ship lizards; none of them ship snakes.
