question about crix size

chuckrusso Jun 04, 2003 12:03 PM

ok i was at my local petsmart buying some crix for my chams. the guy there told me to feed them only smalls, he said you gut load the smalls and they can eat more smalls than medium or large befor they are full, therefor getting more nutrition. this seems kinda logical. he said they will also eat more because the crix are smaller and digest faster.

and the non big bussiness pet store near me i asked the guy i bought ym geckos from this, and he said just feed them the appropriate size and they will be fine

what should i do?

buy a bulk of 500 smalls and let my chameleon goto town on them?

Hi-

Your chameleons are still young, and will need the smaller crickets. The small crickets don't have such a tough exo skeleton on them making them easier to digest. I would buy them in bulk if you have more then one animal to feed, you will save a ton of money and time! Hope this helps!

Go with a cricket that is not larger than the widith of your chams head.
The smaller crix also have less calcium because thier skeletons are not as developed.
Calcium supplimentation is a must for young chams.
