Cage question. Plus chris harper a ?

I am thinking about making a new cages there would be 3 diffrent cages.I am going to make it out of melamine and i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a diffrent color then white and i was wondering if i could use heat tape to heat them and where would be the best place to put it. thanks steve
Chris I was wondering if you have thought about making a rack system out of them cages you make with the tubs they look good and i was thinking about doing that but i was wondering if there is a better way to heat them besides a clamp light. thanks

You can probably find shelving with an oak melamine coating. They will only be a little over 23" wide, though, which may not work depending on what your dimensions are.

Otherwise, check with lumber yards and cabinet shops for different colored melamine. It will be more expensive but the quality of the surface will be higher and more water-resistant.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "rack" with the cage storage tote cage design.

My ultimate plan is to build a series of free standing wall units that will each hold two or three boxes from floor to ceiling. Units will them be placed side by side, effectively creating a "wall". Is that what you mean?

There are many ways to heat these cages depending on what species you plan to house. For many lizards basking lights are great. But for terrestrial snakes heat cable would probably be ideal. Obviously most other ways to heat herps will work.

The screen of each cage makes basking lights safe, but there are limitations, obviously. It would be very hard, for example, to provide heat for Uromastix lizards in such a setup.

Yeah that is what i meant. i would be housing 2 boas and a green burm in the tanks.What would be the best way to heat them. thanks steve
