Housing Question

maxwells Jun 04, 2003 12:17 PM

Good Day!

I am currently planning on rebuilding my 20 high terrarium for a new frog addition. I have one D. Tinc Powder Blue who lives there currently, and I have just gotten another that is being brought up to size (in a temporary home) to serve as a roommate. It was recommended that I introduce them both to each other & the new (reorganized) terrarium at the same time to avoid some territorialism.

Those are my plans for the summer, so here’s the question. I have come across several amazing terrariums for houseplants. (Linked, hopefully, below) Has anyone ever converted one to a home for frogs? It would be such an amazing focal point for a room. I am not sure on the logistics such as lighting, but I think it would be an interesting project. Perhaps get the “rainforest” going for a month and monitor the conditions for frogs? Any thoughts on this crazy scheme are appreciated. Thank you!

Worked for me. I supposed you could put plexi glass around the outside and make a door.

It's an entirely glass enclosure, so it shouldn't need any further plexi. (I hope!) Also, I've just copied the link below, and tried to link it, again, too.

I am curious if anyone else has seen an enclosure like this in person, or used on for frogs. Thanks!

Sorry, didn't see that......well, it's glass. Anyways, where do you get into it from?

I searched Google for "terrerium" and came up with this site...
riverhousetraders.com/terrariums.html They are all very cool, and I would love to update my frog's habitate to a gothic catherdral...

However, when searching Google, I spelled terrarium correctly. (grrr..)

That would make a great looking habitat. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work just as well as a converted fish tank or the do it yourself designs. There are hundreds of ways to solve lighting. When my rich uncle dies and leaves me his millions, I want that REALLY BIG expensive one! If you do this, don't forget to share photos.
