OT: Anyone here have a Sun Conure???

Heather Jan 01, 2004 08:33 AM

I met one at a pet shop today. It was the first bird that seemed to like me.... Usually birds just try to bite me... I've always wanted a bird and I was wondering if Sun Conures are a good beginner Bird (seeing as how I've never even had a budgie before..)... What's the avaerage price for one? Can someone reccomend a good site to learn about them?? Thanks!!!

is that conures screech...loudly. They are beautiful, playful birds but they do have that problem. That was what stopped me from buying one that loved me at the store I worked at. I loved that bird but knew my husband would never have tolerated the screeching. The person who bought it, gave it away then got it back for that very reason.

So, first bird? Maybe not a good choice.

they tend to be full of personality but very very yappy birds, not good for apartments, they can screeech for hours on end. Suns dont tend to be good talkers but are good little clowns and brought up right can make a great feathered companion. Like all parrots with improper handling they can tend to be quite nippy. I think a good first conure perhaps is a Pyrrhura conure such as a green cheek or marroon belly, they tend to be a little more on the quiet side, are a small conure and most i have met have very sweet personalities.

Go to www.Birdcrazy.com and check them out, they are here in Southern california and i would highly reccomend buying a bird from them, they handraise beautiful well socialized birds, the people there are very knowlegable and will help you choose what bird is right for you.

my half moon conure "Oscar Noel Grouch" aka "Ozzy"

My Umbrella Cockatoo "The Colonel"
