Hey,

As far as the incubators go you can get a good deal on hovabators at www.lllreptile.com and for racks the prices all seem to be around the same but I have a rack from here its nice so heres a spot www.boaphileplastics.com i think thats it and if you ever go to www.[bleep].com they always have ads for places that sell racks.

Maybe it's just me but it wouldn't cost a whole lot to just make a rack. Find some bins that you'll use, measure them, and then make a rack for that size. I did a quick search and found $240 for a small reptile rack setup, that seems a bit expensive Below is a picture of what looks to be a homemade wooden for an idea.

That's actually a $390 rack, with the lighting option, from Boaphile Plastics. It is actually heated from behind with the light cable. I've got one of their sideways blanket box racks, which works pretty well. The rack you pictured would be too small for adult leopard geckos, so you'd only be able to use it for hatchlings/juvies.

There are quite a few other sources out there for racks if you do a search on Google or other sites.

I built one last year that has worked excellent for me. You can check it out right here in the Leopard Gecko Forum archives. If you ever lose that link, you can find it searching the 2003 archives for 'jenkins rack'. I'm going to put it up on one of my websites soon, also.

If you're at all handy, I suggest doing it yourself. With melamine you're not likely to start a fire(as long as your heat tape is wired correctly and regulated). Melamine is humidity resistant, so you could use it for higher humidity animals as well. One of the biggest drawbacks is that it is pretty heavy compared to the Boaphile Racks, or the others made by Animal Plastics, I believe.

I just got an email from Jeff Ronne, 'the Boaphile', and he mentions a couple really interesting things in it. Rubbermaid is going to discontinue their line of 2220 and 2221 boxes, which are used in quite a few racks on the market. If you have a rack that uses them, you may want to buy a few extras so you'll have them in the future in case of an emergency.

Another thing he mentions is building a line of larger racks and racks with belly heat, in a 'knock-down' style. I haven't seen them, but they're likely to be less expensive and more sturdy than the current line of Boaphile racks...a la the Animal Plastic racks??? We'll see. Hopefully so, competition can only be good for us, the consumers.
