Repcal Pellets: Juvi or Adult formula?

jawz Jan 01, 2004 12:16 PM

I've heard alto of conflicting statements all over the place. Some say the adult formula is what ehy go crazy for and others say the same for the Juvi formula. Im using the juvi formula right now, with my new dragon so i cant really base my results so far. any one have experiences or comments?

thanx,
Jawz

Well, to tell the truth, I started with the adult formula cause the petstore didn't have any juvi, and I just mushed it up. Now I use the Juvi formula, and really they don't eat much of it. I am working on that though. I mix it in with their greens and they do eat some of it, maybe by accident trying to get a nice piece of collard . Seems to me they don't like the red ones, don't know why, but those are almost always left in both their dishes. If your dragon is small, I would just stick with the juvi.

Mine & most others I've heard, love the red ones over the rest. lol

In any case,,, the juvi pellets have more protein & less fiber. The adult formula can make their poo a little more runny, which will make it easier for dehydration. Also, think of it like puppy food. The juvi has the extra protein to meet the growth requirements of the juvi dragons so why would you not provide it?

I also give Juvi pellets to breeding females. Once again, like the puppy food scenario,, "giving puppy food to a pregnant dog" Kind of like prenatal vitamins. My female, last year being her first year breeding, she laid 6 clutches (mating a second time after the 1st clutch and not being together after) so the last 5 being from one mating. All of which totaled 115 good eggs. The most that went bad from any clutch was 2 eggs. I think those are darn good results, especially without any crickets.

I hope that helps.

Funny, my dragon won't eat the green ones!

Picky little ones, huh? I swear they are more finicky than my three year old son!

I have more than a few that will not eat the tan ones. they will actually eat around them. They eat everything else, leaving all the tan ones in the bowl uneaten.

The two formulas are the same accept for the size and shape, and the juvi just has a higher protien content. I use the Juvi for all life stages.
