Importing from USA to UK

t-bo Jan 01, 2004 01:14 PM

Im looking into importing a ball python from US to UK and have seen it mensioned that an import licence might be needed, as well as the CITIES export/import permit.

I wondered if anyone here has done this, and knows excactly what I would need to do at my end, if anything, in order to import a ball python.

Many thanks!

well i have brought them in from the US a number of times and it is really a pain, and can take between 3-9 months from start to finish. you will need cites permits for both export and import. much easier just to buy them in the UK

Yeah, easyer but alot more expensive for the morphs

It sounds like alot of hassle, but is that all I need ? no other import licence ?

Also, It seems that it only takes 2 weeks to get all the cites documents sorted from the US end, is there any reason it takes longer in UK ? I cant see that the a US breeder would want to wait up to 9 months for me to get my end paper work sorted :/

Well, thanks for help.....

Hi
I too have imported form the US and it went fairly smoothly. You need the paperwork from the US first then you apply in the UK to import. It took from start of getting papers from US about a month.......Much cheaper than buying in the UK for me))
If you need more info contact me via email
