My leopard gecko is sick, NEED HELP!

Dime Jan 01, 2004 01:16 PM

I recently purchased a blizzard leopard gecko. i have had her for 4 weeks. In the past week or so, she lost her tail due to a ornament falling on it. A few days later she started a shed. Last night i noticed that the top portion of her head was red. When i got up her whole head was blood red, her eyes were sinking into her head, and her legs and arms were also red.
She also is licking her eyes and head. She is also rubbing the side of her head on things. She has also vomited a yellowish liquid.
Her health is declining and is write this.
If any knows what is wrong or even has a idea what is wrong, please post.

Noone here can fix your leopard gecko. We can't see it, touch it or examine it. Not to mention, to my knowledge none of us are veterinarians. Your best bet is to take her to a vet tomorrow, unless they are open today.

Did she finish shedding? Does she have a humid hide? What did the ornament do to her, besides scare her enough to drop her tail?

Well the ornament only landed on her tail, and i would have taken her to e herp vet, but the closest one to me is 5 hours away.

People come on here complaining that their gecko is dying, or really sick and can someone please help them. When they're told they should take their gecko to a vet, half the time there isn't a vet close, or a herp vet, or they don't have money to take them.

Please try to find a vet near you, or make the drive. If you absolutely cannot, you probably shouldn't be keeping herps.

Please give us more info. You didn't answer my questions; did the gecko finish shedding? How do you think it's head got to be the color it is? Could you post some pictures? How old is she?

The head rubbing sounds like she could be trying to remove dried up unshed skin. Do you have a humid hide in the enclosure? How are you heating the enclosure? What type of enclosure is it? What type of 'furniture' do you have in there? Give us all the info you can, and keep looking around for a vet. Many vet clinics will have one doctor on staff who specializes in or has experience with exotics. Did you call around?

I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing you, but you've got to think about these things and you gave us very little info in your original post.

I cant stand the ingnorance of some people here. The second you saw here head was red you should of taken her to the vet wether it be a herp vet or non they cant sertainly do more than you can. Let me explain the way im seeing this sorry if this seems cruel but some one who comes on a forum looking for vet help is cruel anyways basically heres what youve done try not to cry when i say this : youve baby sat your lil sister shes fell into the pool and drowned youve watched and slowly skooped her up shes vometing and has enernal bleeding and your calling the neighbor to ask if she has any tylenol cold and sinus man o man get real. I fell horrible for your gecko if one of my geckos loses a gram of weight in a week i take it to the vet let alone internal bleeding which will never happen to me hopefully
