weird behavior!

Hi there! At first..Happy new year!!My qst is..my 3' caiman in the last period is more terricular than aquatic!He spend almost all day on the dryland...I checked the water set up but it's the same!Just courius, I'm afraid he can dehidrate himself!tnx in advance

Its sounds as if your caiman may be sick.
Animals seldom make major behavoral changes without some sort of a reason. If you haven't changed the water in a while bacteria build up is a possibility. Does he appear in excellant health or is he acting quite sluggish and or keeping his eyes closed for an excessive period of time? I could be wrong about it being a health issue though as it is of course difficult to tell if there is a problem from only a few sentences and without seeing the animal. However without more facts my first impression is that your caiman is ill.

It has been my experience that when a caiman reaches about the 2.5 - 3 feet in length their behavior changes. They become more confident, less shy and often very aggressive feeders. I think that your caiman is just growing-up. Now, if he stops eating or becomes placid I would get him to the vet asap.
