bencham Jan 01, 2004 02:21 PM

he is usually not this color besides the black part, it would normally be green and the black would be more pronounced than this picture....

Is that flesh I see?

bencham Jan 01, 2004 08:34 PM

yes, the black region that is barely visible (sorry) is the concern i have for him....

it appears to be getting better yet i am obviously still concerned...

when i first got him he showed no problems, within the 1st week it appeared and went away, now, 3 months along-- it is quite pronounced...

any ideas besides a bruise?

thx

Hmm, really hard to say without seeing him in person, but many black/grey skin damage on chams are thermal burns. But, a burn would most likely show up on his top surfaces and not spread as you describe. It does look like a disease process, as it has edges that seem to fan out from one area. Let's see what the vet sampling shows. Hope the vet can check for staff, other bacteria and fungal infections. Have you put anything on the skin? A good antibacterial skin protector is Silvadene that your vet probably has. Doesn't look like a bruise, and a bruise would not last this long.
