Need Help with ID, Western or Mexican?

John Q Jan 01, 2004 04:55 PM

I've been breeding hogs for several years so this is kind of embarrassing that I don't know which scales to count to positively ID a mexican hog from a western hog. I made my original purchases as westerns and have sold hatchlings for the last 4-5 as westerns. This male is slightly different in color and pattern so I'd like to know if he is a mexican or western.
I overexposed the head shots to make it easier to see the scales. The dorsal shot is his true color and shows his nice circle pattern.
Thanks
John Q
