The Great Big Retic Controversey... My own speculation....

LAF Jan 01, 2004 05:15 PM

Okay, biggest retics I've seen:

1. Bali Reptile Park. They (as all zoo's seem to) claim it's biggest one on display at 27". Hmmmm. Not convinced. It's a big snake for sure but they had a burm not much shorter. Would've guessed 24" or LESS. Not an overly fat animal though.

2. Palau Buton, off S. E. Sulawesi 2000. Some local w4nkers killed a big ca. 20 ft retic in a cereal field. Head was truly enourmous - as big as one in the BBC news video. Is head size dependent on age/sex as opposed to size?

The alleged 49' snake was one fat s.o.b but, if you'll forgive the crudeness, is about as much 49' as my Johnson is 12".

A fiver says it's less than 30'.

Can't wait for the final measure though.

Lee.

some of you guys are rediculous. I am no means trying to offend you guys but some of you are guys saying it 600 pounds and betting a thousand dollars on and another is saying it is the size of what they say it is no offense but I will take you bets any day watch the video again look at it carefully it is not 49 feet my be 30 feet or bigger but I guess it is 300 pounds or less or more I would be shocked if it were over 35 as much as I want it to be true its not but maybe one day a retic with an truly immpresive size will come. sorry if I offend anyone but yeah

Whether the size is true or not, we'll know soon enough-there are 2 of the big breeders waiting on airline tickets for Indonesia to go see for themselves. If they want to be named, I'm sure they'll post what they see. Even if not 49 feet, I'm sure everyone bagrees that it's a big snake-it livened the forum up a bit though.
