A few of them eat a lot better if cooled, but for most it doesn't matter. These are mostly snakes from areas that get very cold in the winter. A few examples I can think of are grey-banded kingsnakes and Russian sand boas. The majority of snakes from temperate regions do great without a cooling period, although some may slow down or stop eating on their own.
