I use a 160watt PowerSun in my 65 gallon enclosure and like it. The only thing is make sure you use a 10" ceramic dome fixture (I like the silver ones, don't know if that matters), but the 8 1/2" and the 5 1/2" the bulbs seem to burn out I hear, not sure why, but mine has lasted now for 4 months, no problems. I did put a 100watt in a 8 1/2" dome, and it burned out almost right away. I think you want the bulb to be completely covered by the dome.

I have a 100 watt one.The only thing i dont like is that you cant use a rehostat to control the heat.

What kind of temperatures are you getting with the Powersun 160 and how far from the bulb is your primary basking spot? I ask because I recently moved my beardie to his new home a 4'x2'x2' melamine cage with sliding front glass doors and I am having the hardest time getting the temperatures right. I have both the 100 and 160 watt Powersuns and the 160 seems to get too hot and raises the overall cage temperature while the 100 doesn't seem quite enough.

I am having no problems with the temps at this point. My basking spot is about 12" away from the bulb, but it seems to me that the hottest spots are not directly under the bulb, they are more to the side, that is what I found with my particular set up. I have a 65 gallon long aquarium. My basking spot temps hover around 103-105 (takes a bit to warm up), and my cool side is right at 80. I was using a 100 watt, and could not reach the correct temp. My set up is made from acrylic, and I put it together myself, so there may have been drafts and such to deal with. Try moving the light around. If the 160 is two hot, raise it up or lower your basking spot (try to keep the dragon at least 12" from the bulb). If that doesn't work, try putting the 100watt more to the side of the basking spot and see what happens. I really don't think a 100 watt will be strong enough to properly heat your enclosure. How far away is your basking area with the 160?

Also, do you have a spot or a flood light? Mine is a spot light. I have considered changing to a flood though. I think melamine cages may hold heat better than my acrylic does, so I am not sure what else to say.

So I would need a 160 watt flood bulb? And a 10 inch ceramic dome fixture.I think I should go with the 100 watt flood because my cage is a 40 gallon breeder for my one bearded dragon.
