linda, thank you for your replies im really not sure exactly how old he is hes definately not growing fast and not growing slow he doesnt seem depressed or anything(like im a tortoise psychiatrist or anything.) ill take him from his hidebox and hell walk all over the place, ill put him on the carpet and before you know it hes on the otherside of the room. he is very heavy i soak him daily but i think one of the problems is getting him on a routine. like i might fall asleep and forget to turn his light off. then he doesnt know what the hell to do, i figure that he just tends to want to sleep. can you give me like a time schedule i should follow. just for guide lines. thank you again -dave

Put all the lights on a timer. You can get these very cheap
at Walmart or any place like Home Depot. Set the timers to
come on about 7am and go off about 6:30pm. It is VERY
important for the health of the tortoise to give it a proper
photoperiod.

Let me know how it goes
