Red Tail Boas

Can anyone explain to me how to tell the difference between a Brazilian, Suriname, Columbian, Peruvian etc..... Red Tail boa???

Yours is a good question and it would be nice if there was a simple answer! There are differences, some are easily seen, others are more subtle.

For many people a good place to start to understand the differences is with the taxonomy.. In general the real redtails are Boa constrictor constrictor, the Colombian boas or common redtails are Boa constrictor imperator. There are also other sub-species in culture. It is not nearly as simple as that looks and determining individual locality types among the subspecies requires even more info.

Bottom line is, you have to spend the time to research it and look at lots of animals.

This website (LINK) has some good information, including range and habitat detail, and photos on very many of the Boa localities currently available.
