I looked all through this forum, before I decided to ask this question. I thought my yearling corn was in "shed" about a week ago, and I posted on this forum, to see if I should feed her or not. I was told to go ahead and offer food, and she took it like a champ! I let her go for 3 days, because she was hanging out in her hide a lot, and I thought that was what I was supposed to do, because you aren't supposed to handle them when they are going to shed. I checked her cage yesterday, to make sure it didn't need cleaned, & I got her out for a few minutes, and she pooped on me. I am getting smart about it now, and I keep a towel handy, because she does it all the time! I know it is not a "fight or flight" issue, because she is all calm, hanging out, just laying there, and all the sudden you see her rear end start moving, and she pushes it right out!!! Like the exercise makes her go... I don't know.
Well, I put her back in her enclosure (which has the correct temps, with belly heat), and this morning when I went downstairs, there was something else is her enclosure... and I'm thinking it was regurge - but, I don't know what it looks like. I am not trying to be gross here, but I could see fur from the fuzzy... and I don't know which end it came out of!!! It did look different from the poo she has done while on my lap though! Can you SEE fur in a poo sometimes? She just recently started eating mice with fur. I'm sorry this is so long, and I have REALLY researched corns... seriously! Too bad people don't post pics of poo! Then I would know what to look for!
(I'm only HALF kidding about that!)
Also, she hasn't shed, and her color looks pretty normal now. How long is a shed cycle? She is an '02, and I have had her for a little more than a month... how often should see shed? She looks physically bigger to me.
Sorry for all the questions and the length of this post! And thanks, in advance!
Mindy
