Please forgive a new-comer's questions.... (URGENT)

Icarus Jan 02, 2004 11:15 AM

I've got two questions - one of which is becoming of increasing concern...

1) My ten month old female eats very very little. She'll eat one but will often "miss the target" and immediately gives up. She does not seem weak, and is very active but just does not seem to be a proficient hunter. She eats about one cricket a day, and I figured she'd eventually get better but its not happening. I'm starting to get scared.

2) Has anyone tried one of those gerbil water feeder things? You know... the spouts? (this is one is certainly less urgent)

Peter - Since when did they change the meaning of "for" to "from?"
Brian - They had a meeting about it last night.
Peter - Why wasn't I informed?
Brian - They sent you a card, but it said "For Peter" so you must have thought it was from yourself so... It's just easier to call you stupid.

i think some people pull off the crickets back legs to make it easier to catch. i'd hate to be a cricket, lol, hope that helps

putting a few crickets into a small, fairly low, tupperware container, they cant get out, but your collared can jump right in.
Or you can hand feed her, alot of mine have learned to eat from my hand, or fingers, but they are quick so you have to be careful, hahhahha !

Some collareds are just not as good a hunter as others.

I have seen a few of mine miss and give up also. But when they are really hungry, they DON'T miss If she is not losing weight don't worry !

As far as the hamster water bottle you could try , but you would have to get them used to seeing a puddle underneath it, or let them see it drip, or they would not be interested.

Thanks guys, but she is still showing little interest in eating. And now she is beginning to lose some weight... I'm getting worried. What kills me is that I know the temperature has to be right because he's doing exceptional. So on the one hand I'm really happy how he's doing - but am getting concerned about her status. Luckily I called the pet store guy, who's a lizard fanatic, and he told me to bring her in and he'll see what's up over the next couple days. It's funny how you get attached to lizards.
