I had a uromastyx (was in bad shape when I got him...MBD) which I had recently adopted and I found a breeder that was willing to give it a good home. But since the Uromastyx was worth a fair bit he offered a trade.
I already had two female basilisks and even though the male he offered was worth much less than the uromastyx I agreed to take the male as he was more of a benefit to me than a single uro. I was told that the basilisk was siezed from an apartment in which it was kept in a 10 gallon tank with no UV lighting or supplementation...it was also apparently kept on aqaurium gravel.
I took him home and also quickly noticed he had a snout rubbing problem...his nose was in bad shape and he continued to rub on the side of the cage...he was also very tempermental...
To make a long story short: After a few months of proper feeding, handling, housing and proper visual barriers...Bram is in much better condition. He likes to be stroked on his head as he closes his eyes and keeps still...I hand feed all of my basilisks to keep them as tame as possible.
He is now in a 40 gallon tank...and the two females (both juvis) are in a 55 gallon. This summer we will be building a 4' wide x 6' tall x 3' deep enclosure...or 540 gallons.
Bram and the others are on a varied diet of king mealworms, crickets, and canned dog food...as well as the occasional pinkie and feeder fish.

Nobody probably cares but just in case you are wondering...his name is Bram because the two females are Sharon and Lois.
I hope that made someone's day...HA!
