Thanks for the replies to my question about large yellow bellied slider vs. the small baby red eared slider. It is abundantly clear to me now that at least for the next couple of years, and maybe eternity, these two cannot share an aquarium. One option is to place them both into a new larger aquarium with an "aquarium divider." Does anyone have experience using these devices? Will they allow adequate filtration through the barrier if I am using just one filter?

When it comes to filtration and turtles, you can almost never have too much. Sofiltration should not be an issue. In case you haven't, check out some of the canister filters, especially the Fluval 404s. I would not spend a lot of money on the divider, the ubiquitous egg crate (used as a light diffuser for florescent light bulbs) can easily be cut the size. Scrap pieces can be used to make a sloping basking platform as well.
