My snake wont go poo

tredog Jan 02, 2004 03:36 PM

Hi,
My snake is about 3 months old and its a columbian red tail. It seems like he doesnt like to go to the bathroom because I have already fead him 6 mice since the last time he has gone to the bathroom. I feed him every four days and I have tried soaking him in warm water. Am I just paranoid or is there something else I should do to help him.

What's your humidity like? I've found that it helps even more than warm water soaks. I just got my first Boa, so I can't tell you how often they go on average. Some snakes go more often than others. Can you feel any hard lumps toward the back end of the snake?

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

My boa did the same thing. She did not go for 3 months, I tried soaking, massaging, and playing with temps. I finally started spraying the cage with a water bottle once a day to raise humidity, and after a week she exploded all over the cage.Hope this helps, good luck,Matt

thanks for the help. I have a 38 cubic foot cage runs with three different climents of 95-100 degrees and 55 hum. 90 deg with 30 hum. and 85 with 65 hum. She likes to stay in the warmer area under a plant. You can definatly feel lumps in her and I soak her all the time. Hoping she goes soon.

excreted. Feeding too often is very bad and can cause a whole bunch of problems later on...IMHO
