I brought my copy home to look the difference between Mex. black & black. Black king L.g. niger most retain some patern of specking. Adults may reach 56". Mexicam black king L.g. nigritus
marked by uniformily black coloration some may have a few yellow spots on lateral scales. Adult length 40 inches. There is more about the scale counts but the darker general patern seems to be the most distinguishing feature.
