Ackies ? pairing adults

trenity Jan 02, 2004 05:04 PM

I have searched the forum but came up empty on an answer to my ?.
I am looking at purchasing some Ackies. My questions are:

1) Should I get 1.1 adult red ackies that have not been housed together before?
2) What is the likely hood they will breed ( I know proper husbandry is a must )?
3) Should I get 4-5 baby yellow ackies instead of the 1.1 reds?

I am looking to breed but also want them as "pets". I am not a "breeder" and do that for the joy and not the money.

So current ackie owners give me your advice on what you think the better road to take is.

Thanks to PROEXOTICS for answering some of my newbie questions

Chris

Thanks Robyn,
I have read through the site and FAQ section before posting the above. I have gotten conflicting reports as to the adults.
The adults I have in mind have been kept in the same cage (just found this out). So with that said, babies or adults?
I would like baby reds but there are not any available right now so I am just looking at the adults instead.
Thanks
Chris

Reds tend to be a little more aggresive than yellows......but reds are alot more attractive. Yellows are the better pets. Reds are the better breeding project.

P.S. go with the reds and robyns are like little tomatoes w legs good luck

Well I am going to go with 4 yellows (babies that are 4 weeks old, any comments on what age is good to get them at as far as stress from shipping and new enviroment would be appreciated.) I really want reds but I hate waiting so I will get the yellows. If they are half as much fun as everyone says they are I will have reds sometime this year as a second group.
Robyn, get those reds busy breeing I will have to get some from you in about 3 to 6 months. Tomatoes with legs sounds way to cool
