Pinkies!????

DeWhit Jan 02, 2004 05:45 PM

Hello all, and thanks in advance for answering my quick question. I am an active member at another forum, where a relatively new member is claiming to have AFC that eats exclusively crikets and pinky mice. Now I have kept AFCs before years ago, and I know that insects are feasible as a supplement to other suitable foods. But pinkies reqularly? Please let me know your thoughts on this before I comment further to this person, I have been told a few things at other forums, but I want to check and double check before I start up. The person is relatively young, and I definately do not want to be accused of attacking a child and then being wrong about it on top of things. But I doubt that they owns anything at all other than an active imagination...but I digress. Thank you once again in advance!

Hi Whitney,

The insects are ok regularly but definately not pinkie mice, you can feed pinky mice every so often, every month or so. They contain too much fat, and the bones aren't to good for the frogs. The frogs do not swim enough (in captivity) to be able to justify that ammount of protein and fat and will probably become obese. They also contain milk with lactose that is left in the baby mouses stomach, ACF's digestive systems, as far as I know, don't agree with dairy produce. Could you provide a link to the topic so I could have a look?

Thanks - hope this helps,

Chris.
