Hello ALL >>>>>

dvl Jan 02, 2004 05:50 PM

Hope everyone had a super Christmas & New Year. Little lizard activity here--- in about 6-8 weeks life will begin to stir again. Maybe the forum will perk up too!! I now spend more time with my new Canon Digital Rebel camera than I do at work, on forums ( except Photo info forums of course!) or with my wife or lizards!!!! Me, the camera & my cactus have become the best of friends though!!! I am really practicing for "vacation pics" when we go back to Arizona this spring.

Ya'll All Have a Good 'Un.

Eve--So you got a Rebel??? I am in LOVE with mine------- even though I find myself not really knowing as much about photography as I thought!!! I am just now getting the feel for what settings ( aperature / f stop / ISO/ etc) works the best. I am sure my wife won't mind having to carry all the extra gear while hiking in Az--- tripod ( a must) zoom lens ( a must ) keg of beer ( a must) small jug of water ( optional) while I am sizing up the next shot!! Heres a pic of a Rose I took the other day. This is not "Off Topic" as Roses as a favorite food for Chuckz & DI'z---

Later--

DV&L--PS-- this pic is less than 45 KB ( Kegs of Beer)

Thats just spectacular David. You will certainly have a blast with that on vacation.

I do not have a rebel, no I have a Nikon coolpix 4500 but I have alot more to learn, I got it for my birthday in August.
I too am learning aperature and so forth, never knew about such things before, hehehe.

Sure is fun. Enjoy

Thanks--- I take hundreds of pics a week but keep very few if any---- practice - practice!!! I only use Manual Mode now & have learned to tweak my settings more than Jennifer Lopez has her "thingies" tweaked ( must be an ego trip to have a "thingie tweaker". Here is a link to some good info for Photography--- I have quite a few Pic Forums that I lurk on! I am not about to show my "igg"norance & actually post something yet!!

Also I have some pics on Webshots under the name DavidVL--- a few pics are with my new camera.
Also- Eve---- have you got into the Graduated Neutral Density Filters Yet?? That is my next step--- it will help you get great sky color along with good foreground exposure ( eliminates sky wash outs!! )

Dave I see you are showing your softer, kinder, gentler side, LMAO. Any way glad to see someone posting even if it is not lizards. Hope you two had a great holiday. Look forward to more of your antics in 2004. Tom

---now that I know how to touch my feminine side LOL!!!!!! Yep--- I am a grudgy ol dude that has always liked gardening ( especially cactus & desert plants) & guitars, critters & beer-- one heck of a combo!! Now I am also a budding photo-taker with rosey red cheeks ------- the back side cheeks that is!!!

Hey nothing wrong with gardening, cactus, guitars critters or beer, we have some of each, other here, mostly critters, LOL

alot of guitars, acoustic, and electric.

And I'm learning to play the blues harp , LMAO Always loved the harmonica, so I'm learning from books and tapes, so I can jam with the guys, next time they are over.

They encouraged me, so I HAVE to show them I can play the dang thing,
Thats where the beer comes in, hahahhaah, hopefully they won't notice much *SMILE*
