Suggestions for 65 Gal Tank needed please.

djfuente Jan 02, 2004 06:04 PM

Next week I get my 65gal tank for Giblet and I have an idea but I needed some suggestions to get the creative juices flowing in my head. I know I want half the tank to be with sand and the other half without. I wish I could take the sand away but she loves it too much, she loves to dig so I was thinking of making a somewhat deep sandbox for half the tank. The other half will not be sand but what is that special mat that has become popular here and where can I get it, I think it is supposed to be easy to clean right. Also, I was gonna use to Oak branches since my new tank will be pretty tall, like 24" I believe. Also thinking of adding a hammock. Right now Giblet is 16" long and in a 29gal tank....and she wants out. Perhaps you all could post some pics of your setups to give me some ideas....thanks ahead.

The liner you are talking about is DUCK brand shelf liner from WalMArt. You may also consider a bran box. Beautiful Dragons (I think it was) posted pictures and it seemed like they really like it. I am switching to the shelf liner myself and my beardie likes to dig so I am going to give him a bran box.

what exactly is a bran box and where can I get one?

She just modified a small box so it was easy for the dragon to get into and filled it with, I believe wheat bran which you can get at feed stores or your local health food store. Very cheap, low dust, and easily passed through the gut if an overzealous beardie eats some.Maybe the title of my post will attract her and she can post the picture again.

Be sure to get the rubber kind, not the adhesive kind. I made the mistake of buying the adhesive kind first, and the smell was so strong I wouldn't dare put it in a tank with my beardie.

This is a pic that Cheri sent me to use on my site. I think her set up is great. It has a little of everything.

We also started to get excited in decorating! Right now Nick and Jess are in I think a 29 gallon but they will be both upgrading this month. This is how we have our guys right now.
