Ok here are 2 pics of my latest build. Still working on this, but hoping to get sarted with the weldbond and eco earth tomorrow. I have used styrofoam, to cover the background, and then used a piece of cork bark to add a tree like across the site. On the right I am trying to make like a mound that should look a lot better after it is covered. For this tank I am counting on the pants to make it, so until they are added it will look a bit dull. I am thinking of skipping the water feature and just making a small pool in a corner. I have not made up my mind on that one yet.

I am also going for light on this tank so I plan to use leca, with some rocks over it.

Thoughts Ideas?

Kyle,

Looks like a good start. I have a suggestion as to how to shape the foam. Try a corase wood wrasp. It is like a file with huge teeth instead of the little groves found on other files. It will cut through the foam like butter, and let you create what ever shape you want.

Thanks for the idea, I do have some files someplace also...

hi
if you ever try this method again try maybe the "other" insulation. it is a bit more expensive i think but denser. it looks like what you have there is when you cut it it was the little balls type insulation if that makes sense. the other stuff is blue or pink. and it cuts easier.
use to use for miniture gaming for hills and mountains. you could even buy a hot wire cutter to shape the foam.
can't wait to see the final pics when you are done.

I almost bought the blue stuff, but I did not know if it was the same thing or not, and/or is the blue would leak out of it. This stuff is working, but is just a mess. I hope to get the weldbond, and eco earth on today, we will see.
