Croc Hunter story plus a corn snake PIC

Its aweful how media is jumping all over Steve Irwin in such a negative way. Comparing him to Michael Jackson is just wrong. While many argue that his antics and stunts are too 'hollywood' and less scientifically based, I think he has done wonders for the promotion of herps around the world. I can't count the number of times when I bring up reptiles with a non-herper and the most common thing they mention is 'The Croc Hunter'. This should remind everyone of how quickly the media jumps all over and embellishes a story surrounding herps.

To keep it CORNSNAKE related, I threw in an old pic of my okee, which is now TWICE as big and turning out incredible! I will always use this girl for comparison when shopping for any new okeetees in the future! LOL

Yeah my mom told me about it. The dand media has me Royaly Poed. Steve Irwin is kinda my herp idol, he is the reason i started likeing reptiles. And this crap about him being too hollywood about it is bull s*#$ he is very passionate about reptiles. He bringsout the good in them unlike the bleeping reporters there alwasy talking about an isolated incdent where some shmow was messing with something and got tagged.

in my oppion all the reporter that think they have the right too compare a hero of the herp world too some child molestor like Michel Jackson should be fed to a giant retic.

on a lesser note that is a beautiful corn. How old is he or she.

just my oppinion

Well, thanks to the media Croc Hunter, Steve Irwin may no longer be in the public life.

ALSO...
I read ABCNEWS.com's story about this, which is pretty much the same as the AOL story I posted earlier BUT it also had the following quote (I cut and pasted it):

"I think he's a bloody idiot, he's addicted to the attention," crocodile farm owner Keith Cook told The Courier-Mail newspaper.

I thought, how terrible for a fellow herper to jump on the media bandwagon and speak bad about fellow herpers. I'm sure people working with dangerous herps make mistakes BUT if everyone was quick to speak out against these mistakes, no one would be able to keep such animals. ANYWAY, MY QUESTION is...who is this guy, Keith Cook? I did a google search and found that he owns a crocodile farm called Aust.Croc.Traders....OK...but this is what it said about it...

Australian Crocodile Traders is Australia’s largest producer of crocodile meat, skins and hides and crocodile leather products – handbags, wallets and belts.

IF this is true...be careful about who you read quotes from because it sounds like this guy would have conflicts of interest with anyone or anything related to conservation. JUST MY 2CENTS.
Can anyone verify if this is the correct info?

On New Year's Day, Steve wasted no time introducing his newborn son Bob to the family business. With a capacity crowd watching at the Australia Zoo, Steve fed Murry, his 12-foot, 770-pound croc, with one hand, while holding one-month-old Bob in the other. Bob was born Dec. 1, weighing just over 7 pounds. The following is what Animal Planet had to say on the matter.

Animal Planet Statement Concerning
The Crocodile Hunter

Animal Planet does not support any activity that intentionally places a child in harm's way. Based on the footage we have seen, we believe a mistake was made. That said, we know from the many years we have worked with Steve, that his family is the most important thing in his life and he takes his role as a father very seriously.

Irwin is probably the sole reason I got over my ophidiaphobia. I think his show serves an incredible service to the education of the genera; public. The article that was on AOL stated that a sign was on the enclosure that read "authorized personnel only". Well, Irwin's the owner of the place & if the kid was in the enclosure with him -- he must have been authorized -- don't ya think! The kid nazis (CPS) should lay off him - especially the worst ones - the ones in the US!
