albino olive python

I saw a web site about albino olive pythons. Has anything happened lately with them? I saw hets for sale for $20,000 a pair and would be very interested in acquiring a pair. The only problem is, I don't know of a legal way to get them out of Australia. Anybody have any info about this situation?

Hi,

well there doesn't seem to be a legal way to get them out of Oz. There was an auction to sell the whole bunch of "Spliff's" offsprings and as far as I know someone outside of Oz was interested and willing to pay a large amount of $. But there was no way to get these offsprings out.

I guess you've seen Spliff and the offsprings either on http://www.herpshop.com.au or at http://www.liasis.net, that links to the herpshop site.

Spliff was found in the wild by Gavin Bedford and was held in captivity for a couple of years. He died on August 4th, 2001.

Hope this helps...

Cheers,
Wulf

I was interested in a pair of hets as well and sent an email to the australian guy who wanted to sell them.
At that time there was an auction for all the genetic material... albino (died later) and het babies. And I wasn't interested in the whole group.
Later there was a note on the website that the highest offer wasn't good enough and the animals were being sold seperate.
The Australian guy first told me that he was able to get the snakes to Europe (where I live), so I email-ed him again. I never got a reply.
About a year later, the website with the prices of the hets was still online, so I email-ed again, and the guy replied. He said an Australian guy bought all the snakes.
I think he said he could get the snakes out of Australia to get a higher price from anyone in Australia.

Cheers,
