Egg bound female veiled?

anthonyd Jan 02, 2004 09:56 PM

My female veiled is around 7 months old. I put her with my male, also 7 months, around a month or so ago. I was a little concerned about her size, only being around 4- 4 1/2 inches (sv) that she might have trouble with the eggs. She is loaded with eggs and has become an extremely clumsy climber, which is normal, but now I can see changes in her attitude and physical strength. She is becoming very docile, which isnt her usual veiled chameleon self. She is still eating and drinking, but not laying. She has a pot in her cage about a foot across and around 11-12 inches deep consisting of 25% pete moss and 75% topsoil (damp, and ideal for tunneling). she digs ocasional, but still hasnt layed. Can any one help me with this problem?

I find my veileds won't lay in anything but damp sand.
Useally I have to pack it down pretty tight for it to hold a tunnel. I don't know if peat moss and soil would pack together well enough to hold a tunnel.
