Do ball pythons need belly heat from heatpads or can you just use a heat lamp? more

Can you use a red heat lamp or a ceramic heat emmitter as the only heat source if you hook it up to a reostat and the temps are right?

....basically you can use any heat source that will allow the snake to reach about 90F. Undertank heat pads or material such as Flexwatt are the most efficient low wattage way to heat them without affected photoperiod (day/night cycle). No matter the method you MUST take care to avoid the snake getting over-heated or burned. Remember to maximize your thermal gradient by placing your heat source at one END of the cage, not the middle.
