Salvator Size?

alienwrkshop Jan 03, 2004 02:20 AM

Hey,

What's the average adult size of a full grown Water Monitor??? Do they all get huge, or are there different localities of different kinds of Water Monitors (Some not bigger than others)? I've seen a 9 footer and the guy said it was from Malaysia. Also, Do Males get bigger? Thanks alot. JON

Waters are big, the record by any species for length officially is 10ft 3 inches, a water. Females on average are the smaller of the 2 but there are exceptions, after all my one albig is a female at over 6ft long at 2 years old, as well John A told me about a female he has that is larger than his males for now. Eventually the males may outgrow the females, if kept properly.

Average adult size is probably around 6 feet with some staying around 5 feet and others maxing out at 7, 8 or even 9 feet or more. Some of the more eastern island populations stay a little smaller while the Indian and Sri Lankan populations are the ones that, I believe, get the biggest. Check out cybersalvator for lots of good info. on these awesome animals as well as lots of good pics of full grown Waters for comparison. Billy
