Anyone else ever experience this?

RalphSnakeMan Jan 03, 2004 01:50 PM

Okay so I was handling Mig today while I was on the computer, and what happened was really my fault, but I'm just wondering if it has happened to anyone else... I had him in my lap and he was just hanging out for a few minutes, but then he wanted to get off, but I kept him on, so I guess after a few minutes he got nervous and went to the bathroom on me (Number 1) Is this a common thing for Tegus to do when they get nervous? Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

Thanks,
Ralph

i had mine pinch a loaf on my lap but i think it was because he didnt care where he went and he had to go then.

Hey Ralph, my guess would be that he wanted to get off BECAUSE he had to go potty, not because he was nervous. Squishy now lets me know when he wants out of his cage by scratching at the doors so he can go potty outside. Of course, he's much too big for his current cage and I think this behavior will stop once he's in his new bigger cage. Bottom line is, I don't think they like to "go" where they hang out. Billy

Hey Ralph, whenever I take Squishy out I spray him with the hose outside and that ALWAYS gets him to go. Once that's out of the way, I can let him roam freely with little fear of him "going" in the house. Of course, he still has his little "accidents" sometimes. If you live up North (I live in S. FL) and it's too cold to hose him down outside, try putting him in a pan of water to get him to go before giving him his "out" time. Best of luck! Billy
