Is it just me...

SiLeNcE Jan 03, 2004 02:27 PM

For those who dont know I have a 5 1/2 ft black milk. It's kinda weird but I've noticed the last couple times I've fed her she moves back and forth and in circles flicking her tongue rapidly as if shes still looking for food after she took down the first one (LoL gotta love run-ons). I mean the mice I give her are like supermice. They are big for a mouse. Is She still hungry or is it just me? My biggest thing is I don't want to overfeed her. Is two mice per feeding ok? I usually feed her once every 5 days. Never have probs with her regurging. Another thing There was one time I fed her a small rat and I think thats the only time she didnt look like she was still hungry. Any help would be appreciated

but you should see a definite lump in her belly after she eats. If it is not there, then the food is too small for her. You could try feeding two mice at time, and see what happens. She might just ignore the second mouse totally. Obviously if she regurges, then cut back to one. Also I have heard of people alternating amounts, one mouse the first week, then two mice the second, one mouse the third.....

are about that size (or slightly smaller) and I feed them small rats, although I only feed every 10-15 days. Each gets one small rat (around 50-60 grams) per feeding and they don't seem to search for more.

Most of my snakes do the same thing. It's like they go into "feeding mode" and they stay in it for several minutes, looking around for more food after they've already eaten. I've got a 3 1/2 yo pueblan that will sometimes refuse food and I've found that I can turn on this "feeding mode" by giving him a small fuzzy and after he's finished that, he'll then take the adult mouse he previously refused.
