Has anyone read these books???

geckogirl72 Jan 03, 2004 02:40 PM

Has anyone read or seen these books...Biology/Husbandry/Health Care of Reptiles it's a 3 volume set by TFH publishing? They're either herp text books or vet. books. I have some gecko books, but I want to know more!! It's a big purchase, so I want to know if anyone has them or has an opinion on them.

Thanks

We have this set at work. I'll look it over tomorrow and see what gecko relevant info there is in it. I'm sure they are packed with good general health info for lizards though. TFH makes some great books but also makes some very outdated ones. For example, in one of the older books I have it states that fat tail geckos are very sparcely bred and are usually not available to the public. Most the info still stands though. I got a book called "All species in one book" by henkel and shmidt which is really awesome but lacks specific info, just a huge field guide if you will. Tells you the basics but if you want to know more about the whole gecko family and general behavior you would need another book.

I have a pretty good gecko book by Henkel/Schmidt, it was very informative, but it left me wanting more. I'm a biology nerd so I'm looking for a good herp book where I can learn more on their (geckos as well as other herps) anatomy and physiology, etc... I have a zoology book from college, but it just touches on the subject.
