Heat once again

jayson Jan 03, 2004 04:18 PM

we have heat panels, heat tape, light bulbs, and all sorts on the market. Here latley it seems that everything is getting overly dry due to winter weather.I use vision cages and have ALWAYS had trouble heating them.............Im just asking people that use visions what would be the best source of heat???I will also let u know that i like to keep the humidity at a decent level......I seen some heat mats(like kane heat mats) that are big, like 3 foot by 3 foot.........I was thinking of using them as a big under cage heater for the big visions...........Just some suggestions

I also use Visions and have tried Kane heat mats under them. They tend to warp the cages (usually temporary, will go back to original shape after heat is removed)so I don't like that. I use ceramic heat emitters, and yes they can reduce humidity a lot. I use an ultrasonic humidifier with the output piped into the cages to keep humidity levels up. I also supplement the heat in my snake room with an oil filled radiator (doesn't dry air as much as other heat types)that way the cage heaters don't have to work so hard and dry things up. Hope this helps.
