Crisis, please help...

Hi, someone I know down in Ohio is having a problem. Apparently for a few hours she forgot to refill his water... She got it back up (the water level) in time. That was yesterday. Today, he's acting strange. He's not eating, he's just floating on the water. He's alive though. I suggested to her what I use for reptiles who are having problems: A combination of preservative-free baby food and pedialite to help get something back in them. However, she said he just sticks himself in his shell so she probably couldn't do that. As far as I know the husbandry is OK. Any suggestions? I'm probably going to call her if I can, she said she's probably going to bring him to the vet soon.

thisis a snapper... yes?
Juvenile?
Adult?
If its large the food is probbaly not critical as it can go long periods without eating. Butr the pedialyte is certainly in order either way iof the dehydration period was substantial.

I think long soaks in water that;s frequently cleaned and occassional soaks in pedialyte would help more thna anything.

What exactly do you mean "forgot to refill the water"? Was the turtle out of water for a few hours? If so, thats no big deal they can tolerate that. What was the temp out of the water? Any other variables we should know about?
