how to heat a wooden terrarium

my terrarium will be housing a ball python...it is wooden and i cant seem to keep it at a good tepmp with just a 50w heat lamp..on it...it is 24inches talland 36 inches long..iknow its a lil too tall..but..what can i do...or should i do.?

Get a 75 watt red spot heat lamp. If the cage is still too cold, either put a heat pad under it (elevate the cage with 1/4" hardboard or something) or install a second lamp socket for another heat lamp. Use a thermostat please.
