That dude looks awesome. Is he tame at all? Also, it has always been interesting to me, why is it that some tokays have rust orange spots while others have dark red ones? It does not change when they go dark or light...my male always has these big red ones while the female we had at work has really orange ones. Does anyone know why? (I'm looking at you ingo )

yeah he's the tame male tokay ..i potest a pic of him just sitting in my hand a few days ago...and with the spots..im not an expert..but i think CB tokays are much lighter in color than WC tokays so that may be the reason..

A while back I would have agreed with that, but my WC female is looking almost as bright as my male (who I believe is CB). I think the brightness itself is dependent on quality of care. Its the color of the dots that puzzles me. I've seen bright ones with bright orange and ones with bright red....

Tokay can differ a lot in colour. In most cases this is population dependent. There are even somne populations with very deviantly coloured speciemns (which may turn out to be different species). Those from northern Vietnam have a grrenish colour with brown spots, some imports are almost blackish with purple dots etc.
If you mix tokays from different populations in captivity, new combinations can come out.
For example somne of my Tokay offspring have a tendency to show red stripes. I now have kept one of those babies for longer and I am thinking about inbreeding this male with a "striped" female yet to be hatched out. Maybe this will need to some new colour morph.
So far the striped ones do only have 6-8 pairs of longitudinal stripes along the back. Like = = = = = = =
