Smartest Lizard

I was wondering what the smartest lizard is so if someone can tell me i would appreciate it.

How would one know if a lizard were smart? Even fish can learn to recognize when they are being fed, so trainability with food doesn't cut it in my opinion.
I'd say monitors are up there, but only because they're so closely related to snakes.

varanids have to be if not the smartest then one of the smartest.

According to Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin the komodo dragon is the smartest lizard.

I would say,one of the smarter lizards would be the chinese crocodile lizards(shinisaurus crocodilurus).I also would agree with all the other people's choices.Monitor are very smart when it comes to lizards.
